Position Summary:
The National Workplace Bullying Coalition (NWBC) seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to support our mission by gathering, analyzing, and reporting on global anti-bullying legislation. This role involves researching existing anti-bullying laws worldwide, identifying effective legislative strategies, and helping the NWBC develop a comprehensive strategy for advocating similar protections within the United States. The ideal candidate will have strong research skills, familiarity with legislative processes, and a commitment to improving workplace standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Legislative Research:
Identify and catalog existing anti-bullying legislation in countries around the world. This includes researching legislative language, policy outcomes, and enforcement mechanisms.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Collect and analyze data on the effectiveness of global anti-bullying laws to identify best practices and model legislation.
Policy Recommendations:
Develop policy briefs, reports, and presentations summarizing findings and providing actionable recommendations for stakeholders, including NWBC’s leadership team, policymakers, and coalition partners.
Comparative Analysis:
Evaluate the differences and similarities among anti-bullying laws across various countries and identify trends, challenges, and successful strategies.
U.S. Advocacy Strategy Development:
Assist in creating a strategic plan for proposing and promoting workplace anti-bullying legislation in the United States, using insights from global research.
Regular Reporting:
Provide regular updates and reports to NWBC leadership on research progress, key findings, and strategic recommendations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Support outreach efforts by helping to identify and engage key stakeholders, including legislators, advocacy groups, unions, and other partners in the workplace safety and mental health communities.
Qualifications
Experience:
Proven experience in research, policy analysis, or a similar role, with a focus on legal, social, or workplace-related issues
Analytical Mindset:
Ability to critically evaluate information, draw meaningful conclusions, and make actionable recommendations based on research findings.
Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information in an accessible manner.
Familiarity with Legislative Processes:
Understanding of legislative procedures, particularly related to workplace or labor laws, is highly desirable.
Attention to Detail:
Meticulous and detail-oriented approach to conducting research and preparing reports.
Commitment to Social Justice:
A passion for improving workplace environments and promoting fair treatment, safety, and respect in professional settings.
Research Skills:
Strong skills in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data, as well as synthesizing information from diverse sources.
